Establishing a positive relationship with your dentist as a child is essential for creating healthy and lifelong oral health habits. Many clients bring their children with them to their own dentist appointments. This is a great way for children to become familiar with our smiling faces and family friendly atmosphere.
Your Child’s First Dental Check-Up
The Canadian Dental Association recommends booking your child’s initial dental visit by the age of one year or within 6 months of the first tooth appearing. We recommend booking an appointment for your child as soon as their baby teeth are visible. Young patients are welcome to sit with Mom or Dad if that makes things easier.
The first dental visit is more of a friendly introduction. Once your child is comfortably seated in our dental chair, we can assess each tooth, their gum line and their bite. This is the perfect time to discuss oral care basics and establish whether any tooth decay is present and how to prevent it from occurring.
